Capital District Open EducationOpen education represents an extraordinary movement which involves opening up educational resources so that anyone, anywhere can access, use, and derive existing educational materials and adapt them to their unique needs. There is an abundance of great educational materials available digitally that are free for your use for workforce development, for alumni lifelong learning opportunities, for local secondary school students and their parents, for all Schenectady County community members. Maybe you are looking for new pursuits after a long career from which you have recently retired. Maybe you are looking to gain new skills and knowledge for your current or future profession. Maybe you are searching for the perfect career fit and are looking to explore new opportunities. Capital District Open Education (CDOE) is a service to the community which provides free and open access to course content provided by instructors at Schenectady County Community College. CDOE is open and available to the world and is an ongoing Schenectady County Community College activity. This service is designed for the individual learner. You will have access to course materials but will not be under the guidance of an instructor. You will not earn college credit nor will you have access to an instructor. It does allow you to learn on your own schedule without having to pay for your course! The Capital District Open Education initiative
